Lush | Skincare Routine

As with most people, my skincare routine changes suddenly and usually when i'm least expecting it. But recently, for the last six months in fact, my skin has been kind and allowed me to stick to one routine and I have to say, it's such a simple one and for that I am hugely thankful. The last six months has been rough, so a simple and quick process has helped a lot. More on what have happened in another post.

Now, on to my routine and as you could probably have guessed, it's from Lush; shock, horror!

To start, I soak a wash cloth in very, very hot water and leave it there until i'm ready to begin. The purpose of the hot cloth is to open up my skin, allowing it to take in the product easier and faster. By all means, if at this point you wish to add a toner tab to the water, go for it! Now, I wring out the cloth and place it on my skin and press it in areas I need more focus on; the T Zone and nose. I do this to help my slightly larger pores be more exposed and allow the dirt to be removed easier.

After twenty seconds or so, i'll remove the cloth and place it back into the hot water to soak once more. While it's soaking, i'll grab my cleanser. I'm using Lush's 9 To 5 Cleansing Lotion. The reason I like 9 To 5 is purely for the ingredients. It contains Almond Oil, which will brighten the skin, Fresh Dove Orchid, which will clear up any problem areas and Everlasting Flower Absolute, which has soothing and regenerative effects on the skin, as well as being uplifting and calming on the mind. Use a nice amount, don't be shy!

Once i've applied the lotion, I really work it in, especially in the areas i mentioned previously. It's really important I get it into the skin well, so I don't rush; I go slow and i'm really precise. After i've worked it in, I grab the hot cloth once more and place it back onto the face, directly on top of the lotion and leave it for thirty seconds, again, pressing into the areas. I'll then go around the face with the cloth and wipe my skin clean

After cleansing, it's important I moisturise. I have tried many methods of moisturising, but the most effective is using it with a toner water. Now, I don't really break out, get sensitive skin or lots of redness, so I can get away with using most, but the one I always go back to is Lush's Tea Tree Toner Water. The reasons? Tea Tree is antibacterial, anti fungal and antimicrobial. My way of thinking is, if I keep those ingredients in the skin, the chance of breaking out is at a bare minimum. It also has Grapefruit water, which is a lovely, natural astringent and Juniper Water which is antiseptic. It's a very clean product and having it in the skin keeps my mind at ease. It also has another purpose, which i'll talk about now.

Moisturisers work by locking in moisture, so, what I do is apply my moisturiser directly on top of my Tea Tree Toner Water. By doing this, it's going to lock in the moisture in the toner, as well as the lovely ingredients in the moisturiser itself. Doing it this way also helps save on the amount of product you apply to the skin. The Toner Water helps it glide across the skin in a more efficient method of application, ensuring an even coverage.

The moisturiser I use is Lush's Gorgeous. Yes, it's expensive, but it's also a bloody brilliant product. It's Enzymic, it's soothing, moisture retaining and rejuvenating. Ingredients that do all of this are Organic Cold Pressed Evening Primrose Oil, Pineapple Juice, Organic Lemon Juice and Organic Orange Juice. It also contains Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Orange Flower Absolute.

It really is my favourite, but since it's an expensive one, using it in sparing ways, such as the Toner Water method, really helps stretch the product out!

And that's it, my current skincare routine. I have to admit, without this quick and easy process, my skin would have been in a state of despair. I mentioned it's been a rough six months and it really has been; so much that I sometimes didn't even have time to care for my skin, so this really has gave me lots of space to deal with everything, while look after my skin.

Give it a go and try it for yourself. Lush offer samples to those who are unsure or are wanting to try out products first. Go into your local store, ask for a sample and use it. Good luck!
